Hazardous Material First Responder
Operational
Description:
This training course is to educate emergency responders about the basic strategies to safeguard their health and safety when their work involves potential exposure to hazardous materials.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the participants will be able to:
- Detect the presence of hazardous
substance
- Consult appropriate references for additional
information
- Implement work practices that minimize the possibility of
contamination
Refresher training is required, at least annually, to keep skills current.
Course Information:
Length:
Three day course, 8-hours per day.
More time may be required for classes of responders who need additional instruction in other areas.

Unit 2: Health & Safety
Unit 3: Hazardous Materials
Unit 4: The Planned Response
OEMS Credits:
Approved for 24 OEMS
credits.
